Vivienne Jolie Drops Pitt Surname in Final Name Change

The Final Drop

Vivienne Marcheline Jolie legally became Vivienne Jolie on November 2, 2026, after a Los Angeles judge granted her petition to drop the Pitt surname. The 18-year-old filed the request on July 20, nine days after her eighteenth birthday, joining Shiloh, Maddox, and Zahara as the fourth and fifth children to remove Brad Pitt from their names.

The name change follows a pattern that began in 2024. Shiloh was the first to file, doing so on her eighteenth birthday in May of that year; the petition was granted that August. Maddox and Zahara both filed in the summer of 2026, with their hearings held in September. Vivienne’s twin, Knox, has not filed a formal petition but publicly used the name Knox Jolie when he graduated high school in June 2026. Pax remains the only sibling still using the double-barreled Jolie-Pitt surname.

The changes are rooted in the 2016 divorce and an alleged airplane altercation. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce the day after the incident, and an FBI investigation cleared Pitt of child abuse charges. The couple’s divorce was finalized in December 2024, ending an eight-year legal battle. The name changes represent a final chapter in that settlement, with Vivienne’s action marking the last of the five children to formally remove Pitt’s name.

Vivienne joins a sibling group where five of six children no longer use the hyphenated surname. The only remaining child with the Jolie-Pitt name is Pax, 22. Knox, her twin, graduated as Knox Jolie in June. With Vivienne’s change complete, all siblings who have chosen to drop the name have done so before or shortly after turning eighteen.

The Jolie-Pitt divorce was one of Hollywood’s most contentious splits. Jolie filed in September 2016 after two years of marriage, citing an alleged incident aboard a private jet traveling from France to Los Angeles. Pitt was investigated but not charged. The family’s six children have since pursued individual paths, each filing name-change petitions as they reached adulthood.

Vivienne’s attorney, Peter Kenneth Levine, appeared remotely for the November 2 hearing. Judge Virginia Keeny read the petition’s approval from the bench, noting the petitioner’s name would change from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The decree was signed and filed, with paperwork available at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse within one week.

Vivienne is the fifth of six siblings to complete the process. The sixth, Pax, has not filed. Knox publicly dropped the name at graduation but has not filed a petition. The name changes signal the final stage of the Jolie-Pitt divorce settlement, concluded in December 2024.

Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The name is now on record. The decree was signed and filed on November 2, 2026, at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
