LOS ANGELES, September 30 — The story begins with a simple announcement: on September 30, 2026, Explore Disney+ Contributor unveiled the October 2026 lineup for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, spotlighting content shaped by celebrity-driven streaming trends. What unfolded was a confirmation that FX’s American Horror Story: 13 will premiere on Hulu, with new episodes dropping weekly on October 1, 8, 15, and 22, leading to a season finale on October 29 at 9pm PT.
At its heart, this marks the 13th installment of the anthology series, which has earned over 100 Emmy® nominations since its 2011 debut and has been streamed for more than 700 million hours globally. Created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the series features an all-star cast, many reprising fan-favorite roles, continuing its legacy of genre-redefining chapters that have explored themes like a murder house, witch coven, freak show, haunted hotel, and apocalypse.
The announcement also highlighted other October 2026 releases tied to celebrity culture, including the Disney+ and Hulu season premiere of Scrubs on October 1 — a two-episode launch — starring Zach Braff as John ‘J.D.’ Dorian, Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, and Ava Bunn as Sam Tosh, with new episodes airing weekly through October 29.
Marvel Television’s VisionQuest was announced for Disney+ with a release date of October 14, followed by episodes on October 21 and 28, featuring Paul Bettany as Vision, who reboots after escaping weaponization attempts and interacts with AI personas F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron while on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy potentially his reincarnated son.
Additional Hulu releases on October 1 included Barbarian, Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Edward Scissorhands, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, and Grown Ups, alongside the return of Abbott Elementary for a new season. The release positioned these titles as key viewing options for Halloween-themed entertainment, superhero narratives, and nostalgic revivals, emphasizing their availability across Disney’s streaming platforms as part of a broader October content strategy.
Looking ahead, viewers can expect weekly drops across platforms through the end of October, with American Horror Story: 13’s finale set for October 29 at 9pm PT on Hulu.
