LOS ANGELES, June 26 — Justin Bieber dropped a surprise live album Thursday, capturing his first large-scale concert in four years. Swag Live From Coachella (Weekend I) is available now, recording the 32-year-old Canadian singer’s April 11 performance at the California festival. The bottom line: Bieber is betting his return to the stage will move units. The live set draws heavily from his 2025 albums Swag and Swag II, including an acoustic segment.
Special guests on the recording include The Kid Laroi, Tems, Wizkid, Dijon, and Mk.gee. By the numbers, the move extends a release strategy that has worked before. Swag was Bieber’s seventh studio album and his first in four years when it arrived last July in a surprise drop.
The 21-track LP found the singer reflecting on his experiences as a husband and father. He followed it with the 23-track companion album Swag II in September 2025. The Coachella performance was streamed on YouTube on Friday and is scheduled to repeat at 12am Saturday.
Investors will note that the live release capitalizes on momentum from a strong awards season showing. Bieber drew praise for his performance of “Yukon” at the Grammy Awards in February, appearing on stage in grey shorts with a guitar and a drum machine, a mirror placed beside him.
Toward the end, he walked off with his arms folded behind his back before returning to switch the drum machine off. The figure that matters for the business side: Bieber has been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards and won two. His wins came for best country duo/group performance for “10,000 Hours” with Dan + Shay and best dance recording for “Where Are U Now” with EDM duo Jack U, made up of DJs Skrillex and Diplo.
Bieber began his career in his early teenage years. He has scored seven UK number one singles and two UK number one albums — Believe and Changes. He is best known for songs including “Baby,” “What Do You Mean?” and “Sorry.” The singer has also launched a clothing and lifestyle brand called SKY.
What to watch next: Whether the live album format drives streaming numbers for the Swag catalog, and if Bieber schedules additional live dates following the Coachella return. The surprise drop approach has become a signature move for the artist, and Thursday’s release suggests he sees no reason to change that playbook.
