BLACKPINK's Jisoo Co-Writes Original Song 'Sun Showers' for The Angry Birds Movie 3

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has secured a foothold in the Hollywood animation pipeline, co-writing an original track for Paramount Pictures’ The Angry Birds Movie 3. The song, titled “Sun Showers,” is slated to appear in the film and its forthcoming trailer, marking the K-pop star’s first soundtrack contribution to a major studio franchise.

The Calculus of a Crossover

The move is strategically calibrated. Jisoo, one-fourth of the global juggernaut BLACKPINK, has spent 2026 rolling out solo singles — “Click” in September, “Addicted” in October — building momentum toward a debut album. “Sun Showers” extends that runway into family entertainment, a sector where streaming metrics and theatrical reach converge. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news Tuesday; Billboard confirmed the details Wednesday.

Personal Intellectual Property on the Chessboard

The album artwork introduces “Shumon,” a dustball creature Jisoo drew in middle school, years before her debut. She described seeing the character animated as “deeply meaningful.” In an industry that mines nostalgia for intellectual property, deploying a private childhood creation signals a play for authenticity — a currency that travels across demographics.

“I wanted to capture the movie’s playful and bright energy through a fun, feel-good song that makes people want to smile and dance along,” Jisoo told The Hollywood Reporter. “I really hope everyone will enjoy hearing it when they see the film over the holidays.”

The Broader Stakes for Paramount

The third Angry Birds installment, directed by John Rice, opens December 23. The premise — Red the bird navigating fatherhood while saving the world — targets the holiday family demographic. The voice cast reads like a roster of contemporary comedy capital: Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Danny McBride, and a slate of digital-native creators including MrBeast and the Smosh duo. Executive producers span Louis Koo, Toru Nakahara, and a trans-Pacific production team, reflecting the franchise’s global revenue architecture.

What This Signals

For Jisoo, the placement is a data point in a larger trajectory: solo artist, songwriter, now film composer. For the studio, it is a bet on K-pop’s streaming engine to amplify a legacy IP. The trailer drops soon. The film opens December 23.
