Disney+ Announces October 2026 Releases Featuring New Series and Revival Comedy

LOS ANGELES, October 4 — The story begins with an announcement that arrived quietly but carried weight for streamers everywhere: on September 30, 2026, Explore Disney+ Contributor unveiled the October lineup across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, setting the stage for a month of genre-spanning viewing. What unfolded was a deliberate rollout of flagship returns and fresh entries, each positioned as a cornerstone for subscribers’ Watchlists. At its heart lay two major Disney+ premieres: the revival of the beloved medical comedy Scrubs and the launch of Marvel Television’s VisionQuest.

Scrubs returned with a two-episode debut on October 1, followed by new episodes on October 8, 15, 22, and 29. Starring Zach Braff as John ‘J.D.’ Dorian, Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, and Ava Bunn as Sam Tosh, the series follows the doctors as they now inspire the next generation at Sacred Heart while navigating personal and professional challenges.

Meanwhile, VisionQuest premiered on October 14, with new episodes rolling out weekly on October 21 and 28. The series follows Vision, rebooted and in hiding after escaping those who sought to weaponize him, as he consults AI personas from his programming—F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and Ultron—while on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son reincarnate. Vision must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and uncover the truth about his companion to survive.

On Hulu, FX’s American Horror Story: 13 returned with new episodes airing weekly on October 1, 8, 15, and 22, culminating in a season finale on October 29 at 9pm PT. The anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, has received over 100 Emmy nominations since its 2011 launch and has been streamed for more than 700 million hours globally.

The 13th installment features an all-star cast with many reprising fan-favorite roles, continuing the series’ legacy of exploring iconic horrors through installments such as a murder house, witch coven, freak show, haunted hotel, and apocalypse. Additional Hulu releases on October 1 included Barbarian, Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Edward Scissorhands, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, and Grown Ups — a mix of horror, action, and comedy classics made available alongside the seasonal rollout.

Looking ahead, the October slate offers viewers a rhythm of weekly drops across platforms, with Marvel and horror fans anticipating mid-month climaxes and comedy lovers tracking the Scrubs revival through the month’s end. For now, the lineup stands as a curated invitation: to stream, to return, to discover what unfolds next.
