Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu Premieres on Disney+ September 2 as Part of September

LOS ANGELES, September 24 — The story begins where the Empire ended. Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived on Disney+ on September 2, part of a new wave of movies, shows and sports landing across Disney+, Hulu and ESPN this month, according to a News & Tips article by an Explore Disney+ contributor revised September 22. At its heart, the premise is a familiar one for Star Wars fans.

The evil Empire has fallen, but Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, it enlists the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his young apprentice Grogu.

Chad Powers and a lie closing in

Over on Hulu, a new season of Chad Powers premieres on September 3. Chad Powers is a superstar on the field, but his odd behavior off it has everyone suspicious — especially Coach Hudson and Gerry. The walls are closing in on Russ’s lie, and if he and Danny want Chad to survive the regular season and lead the Catfish to the College Football Playoff, the only person who can help them is the last person who wants to: Ricky.

FX’s The Drop: A Snowfall Saga brings new episode release dates on Hulu of September 8, 15, 22 and 29. The all-new show follows Snowfall characters Wanda Bell, played by Gail Bean, and Leon Simmons, played by Isaiah John, as they fight to reinvent themselves in 90s Los Angeles, where the fallout from the crack epidemic is fueling a new game: the rise of West Coast rap.

A film slate on Hulu

The month’s film slate lands on Hulu and includes Amsterdam, described as an original crime epic from acclaimed filmmaker David O. Russell about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history, weaving historical fact with fiction. The Bob’s Burgers Movie follows a ruptured water main that creates an enormous sinkhole in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance and ruining the Belchers’ summer plans.

While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save the family’s restaurant. Burlesque centers on a star-struck small-town girl who arrives in Los Angeles and finds work at a failing burlesque club, where her singing talent threatens to outgrow the small venue. Coraline follows an adventurous 11-year-old girl who stumbles upon another world that is a rosier version of her frustrating home, but the alternate dimension harbors sinister secrets.

Two Ice Age titles arrive. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs sends Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat to a mysterious underground world inhabited by dinosaurs and a one-eyed weasel named Buck, while Ice Age: The Meltdown sees the trio discover that miles of melted ice will soon flood their valley, forcing them to warn everyone and find a way to escape the coming deluge. Inglourious Basterds, in which Christoph Waltz received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, follows a Nazi-scalping squad of American soldiers on a mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich as war rages in Europe. Jennifer’s Body stars Megan Fox in a horror-comedy about a high school cheerleader who develops an insatiable appetite for her male classmates after she’s possessed by a hungry demon. Jerry Maguire stars Tom Cruise as a sports agent who discovers his scruples and promptly loses his job, learning that loving well is the best revenge, co-starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., Renee Zellweger, Regina King and Bonnie Hunt. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set three years after the theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment; Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves, and when the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from an extinction-level event.

The lineup also includes live sports on ESPN and additional titles throughout the month, with watchlist links and more information available on Hulu.com. For those involved, the month’s biggest draw remains the Mandalorian and his apprentice — a pairing that has carried the Star Wars story into its next chapter on Disney+.
