LOS ANGELES, September 20 — The story begins, as so many Star Wars tales do, with an empire in ruins and the question of what comes next. Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived on Disney+ on September 2, the headline release in a September slate that also brings new series and a deep bench of films to Disney+, Hulu and ESPN. The Lucasfilm production picks up in the aftermath of the Empire’s fall, with Imperial warlords still scattered across the galaxy.
As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, it has enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his young apprentice Grogu.
A galaxy still unsettled
At its heart, the premise is a familiar one for the franchise: victory in war does not guarantee order in peacetime. The scattered warlords and the New Republic’s effort to hold the line frame the return of two characters whose partnership has become one of the most recognizable in the saga. Over on Hulu, the month’s offerings lean into reinvention and deception in equal measure.
Chad Powers has its season premiere on September 3. Chad Powers is a superstar on the field, but his odd behavior off it has everyone suspicious, especially Coach Hudson and Gerry.
The walls are closing in on Russ’s lie, and if he and Danny want Chad to survive the regular season and lead the Catfish to the College Football Playoff, the only person who can help them is the last person who wants to: Ricky. FX’s The Drop: A Snowfall Saga debuts on Hulu with new episode release dates of September 8, 15, 22 and 29.
The show follows Snowfall characters Wanda Bell, played by Gail Bean, and Leon Simmons, played by Isaiah John, as they fight to reinvent themselves in 90s Los Angeles, where the fallout from the crack epidemic is fueling a new game: the rise of West Coast rap.
A cluster of films lands at once

Russell, is an original crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history, weaving historical fact with fiction.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie follows a ruptured water main that creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save the family’s restaurant.
Burlesque follows a star-struck small-town girl who arrives in Los Angeles and finds work at a failing burlesque club, but when she begins to sing, her talent threatens to outgrow the small venue. Coraline centers on an adventurous 11-year-old girl who stumbles upon another world that is a rosier version of her frustrating home, but this alternate dimension harbors sinister secrets. The Ice Age titles arrive as a pair.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs sends Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat to a mysterious underground world inhabited by dinosaurs and a one-eyed weasel named Buck. Ice Age: The Meltdown sees Manny, Sid and Diego discover that miles of melted ice will soon flood their valley, forcing them to warn everyone and find a way to escape the coming deluge.
Inglourious Basterds, in which a Nazi-scalping squad of American soldiers known to their enemy as “The Basterds” undertakes a daring mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich as war rages in Europe, features Christoph Waltz, who received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Jennifer’s Body stars Megan Fox in a horror-comedy about a high school cheerleader who develops an insatiable appetite for her male classmates after she’s possessed by a hungry demon.
Jerry Maguire stars Tom Cruise as a sports agent who suddenly discovers his scruples and promptly loses his job. With the help of one loyal colleague and one outrageous client, he learns that loving well is the best revenge, in a romantic comedy co-starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., Renee Zellweger, Regina King and Bonnie Hunt. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set three years after the theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment.
Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves, and when the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen, played by Chris Pratt, and Claire, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.
