Josh Peck Reveals $125,000 Annual Income from Nickelodeon’s ‘Drake & Josh’

Josh Peck was 14 when he started acting on Nickelodeon. By 18, he was a star on one of the network’s biggest shows. Now, at 39, he has put a dollar figure on what that fame paid — and the internet is picking sides.

Peck disclosed on the Financial Tea with Mrs. Dow Jones podcast that his annual take-home from Drake & Josh was roughly $125,000. The show ran 60 episodes over four seasons, from 2004 to 2007.

He and co-star Drake Bell each earned about $15,000 per episode by the end. Gross total across the run: $900,000. After agent fees, manager cuts, and taxes, Peck said, “we cleared half of that.” That math lands at $112,500 a year after deductions.

Peck rounded it to $125,000. Either way, the figure has split viewers online.

Some call it modest for a show that aired constantly on cable. Others say it is far more than most people earn. Peck did not grow up with that kind of security.

He described his childhood on the podcast as financially unstable. “I came from a lot of financial insecurity growing up. I had a single mom, as an only child, and we sort of vacillated between being lower-middle-class and being broke,” he said.

His mother worked in sales. Good years meant new Jordans.

Bad years meant calling his grandmother to pay for dinner because the bank account sat at zero. That background shaped how he saw the money then — and how he sees it now. The $125,000 a year was, for him, a lifeline out of that instability.

For critics, it is a reminder of how much money flows through children’s television and how little of it reaches the children themselves. Peck started on The Amanda Show with Amanda Bynes, earning $3,000 per episode.

That was his entry point. By the time Drake & Josh ended, his per-episode rate had climbed fivefold. But the total, spread across four years and cut by fees and taxes, does not look like the fortune fans assume.

Peck acknowledged he was not fully transparent about the financial details in his own book. “When I was writing my book, I wasn’t very transparent with it, the financials in my book,” he said. The podcast interview corrected that.

The disclosure lands at a moment when former child stars are speaking more openly about pay, working conditions, and exploitation in Hollywood. Peck’s numbers offer a concrete data point in that larger conversation.

The show was a hit. The pay, by Hollywood standards, was not. Peck did not complain.

He stated the figures plainly. The reaction came from everyone else.

Some argued $125,000 a year is a solid middle-class income. Others pointed out that the show generated millions in advertising revenue and merchandise sales. Neither side is wrong.

The numbers sit where they sit. Peck is now 39, with a career that has continued steadily after Nickelodeon. He has acted, directed, and written.

The financial insecurity of his childhood is behind him. But he chose to put the old numbers on record anyway.

The internet, predictably, did the rest.
