Madonnas Glastonbury hint emerges during Graham Norton interview

LONDON — Graham Norton leaned in. The question hung in the BBC One studio air for a beat too long. Madonna did not answer.

She just looked at him. That look, broadcast on Friday night, is now the closest thing pop fans have to a Glastonbury confirmation for 2027.

The 66-year-old performer sat for nearly an hour with Norton, promoting her upcoming album Confessions II. She talked about her brother Christopher, who died of cancer in 2024. She talked about a duet with her daughter Lola, about strains in that relationship.

She talked about dancing. But the room shifted when Norton asked about touring plans.

“I think I’ll do promo tours for a while, then in the summertime something bigger,” Madonna said. Norton replied: “Oh, that sounds really exciting and good. I think I know what you’re talking about.” The two shared a long, knowing look.

Then Norton pressed. “Is it in this country?” Silence. No direct answer.

But the implication was clear enough for fans who have been waiting years. Madonna was widely rumored to top the Pyramid Stage in 2024.

Negotiations fell apart. No reason was given publicly. The deal died quietly.

Now, three years later, the star appears to be circling back. The Glastonbury hint is the headline.

But the interview revealed other things. Madonna admitted she gets carried away on the dancefloor. “I just go crazy.

I think I irritate a lot of people,” she said. She also admitted that “nobody ever wants to dance with me.” The reason, she said, is that she gets too into it. She revealed jealousy of Kylie Minogue.

That was the other big moment. “That’s how I started,” Madonna told Norton.

“I was a dancer. Dancing is in my DNA. It just creates community — and sometimes relationships.” The new album, Confessions II, is a sequel to her 2005 record Confessions on a Dance Floor.

It finds her back in her natural habitat. The record reflects on her origins in 1980s New York.

But it also gets personal. One track, Fragile, mourns her brother Christopher. Another, a duet with Lola, addresses strains in their relationship.

Madonna said she was excited for fans to hear the record. “Because it’s a whole story,” she said. “I can’t just make dance music about nothing.” The interview was broadcast on BBC One.

It is available to re-watch on the BBC iPlayer. For now, Madonna is focused on the album.

But the Glastonbury question lingers. The Pyramid Stage has hosted aging legends before. Paul McCartney played it at 80.

Elton John played his final UK show there in 2023. Madonna would be 68 in 2027.

The slot is there. The question is whether the deal holds this time. Norton did not push further.

He did not have to. The look said enough. Fans who have been waiting years now have a date to circle. 2027.

The summer. Something bigger.
