The music industry gathered in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena. The event recognized outstanding recordings, compositions, and artists from the eligibility period spanning September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024. CBS broadcast the main ceremony, which also streamed on Paramount+, marking the 22nd consecutive year the event has been held at the Crypto.com Arena.
Earlier in the day, a premiere ceremony took place at the Peacock Theater beginning at 12:30 p.m. PT, building anticipation for the evening’s main proceedings. The Recording Academy had announced the nominees on November 8, 2024, via a YouTube livestream.
South African comedian Trevor Noah returned as host for the fifth straight year, bringing continuity to the proceedings. His experience helped maintain energy throughout the evening as the ceremony celebrated the breadth of talent within the music industry.
Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé Lead Winners
Kendrick Lamar emerged as one of the night’s most decorated artists. His song “Not Like Us” won in all five categories for which it was nominated, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
This achievement tied the track with “Up, Up and Away” as the most honored song in Grammy history. Lamar also became only the second rap artist to win both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, following Childish Gambino who accomplished this feat in 2019. Beyoncé received the most nominations of any artist with eleven and won three awards.
Her album “Cowboy Carter” earned Album of the Year and Best Country Album honors. These wins marked historic firsts: Beyoncé became the first Black artist to win Best Country Album and the first Black woman to win Album of the Year since Lauryn Hill achieved this in 1999.
Industry Recognition and Future Outlook
The ceremony highlighted the changing landscape of popular music, with winners spanning multiple genres and backgrounds. Additional performances and awards throughout the evening contributed to the event’s energy, which reached audiences through both CBS and Paramount+.
With the 67th ceremony concluded, attention now turns to the 68th Annual Grammy Awards. The coming year will bring new releases and emerging artists, with the Grammys continuing to serve as a benchmark for musical achievement. As the industry evolves, the awards remain a platform for recognizing artistic excellence across an increasingly diverse range of musical styles and voices.
